Well, the Friends put in a long day into the evening yesterday at City Hall. It began at the Conference meeting in the afternoon and ended up at the Regular Commission meeting downstairs for more discussion after the regular meeting concluded! In between the meetings we were able to sit down with representatives from NSU/MOA and discuss some of our concerns. We had positive talks, but still have a ways to go with some details. Our position is to keep our promise to the community and allocate a portion of the South Side School for the Community, who helped save the building in the first place! It has been a long road but it is not over till the Community speaks. We will be meeting again this week with NSU/MOA to iron out some details and the City Commission will be making a final vote on March 1, 2011 at the Commission meeting. Now is the time to contact your Commissioners to express your concerns for the South Side Cultural Arts Center at the South Side School.
